This charming re-creation of a classic French bistro is conveniently located in the heart of historic St. Michaels, Maryland. Chef David Stein masterfully combines Maryland regional favorites, traditional American dishes, and French/ Mediterranean classics to create flavorful dishes enjoyed year-round by locals, visitors, and critics alike.

During their visits to France, owners Phil and Sue Stein found they enjoyed the finest food and best atmosphere in the neighborhood bistros and cafes of Paris. With these casual yet high-quality restaurants serving as their inspiration, the Steins set about transforming a 100-hundred year old Victorian house on Talbot Street into Bistro St. Michaels. Their son David, already a popular and accomplished chef in his own right, was the final piece of the puzzle in creating what Zagat surveys recently hailed as "a jewel of a restaurant."

For devoted regulars of Bistro St. Michaels, it's the combination of excellent food and delightful atmosphere that draws them back again and again. David's seasonal menu at Bistro St. Michael features a tempting array of specials, offering what the Washington Post describes as "an interesting blend of hearty French comfort food and nouvelle Eastern Shore classics." The restaurant also has an extensive and varied wine list, along with several delectable desserts prepared by David's wife Indra.
